James Hardin, 85, of Waterford, MI, formerly of Andrews, died Monday, November 19, 2012. He was a native of Cherokee County, but had moved to Michigan in 1952. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the United States Army and the United States Marine Corps. James retired after 30 years with General Motors. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Pontiac, MI.
He was the son of the late Thomas Jefferson and Sallie Solesbee Hardin.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth Lavada Wyke Hardin; three sons, James Michael Hardin of Waterford, Dewayne Anthony Hardin of Louisville, KY, and Roger Alan Hardin of Royal Oak, MI; two sisters, Mildred Simms of Gastonia, NC and Wanda Ellis of Columbia, SC; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM Monday, Nov. 26, 2012 in the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Marble with the Rev. Darrell Dockery officiating. Interment was in Aquone Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mike, Dewayne, Roger, and Nicholas Hardin, Michael Nardella, and Jim Ankofski.
The family received friends from 10-10:45 Monday morning at the Oak Grove Baptist Church prior to the services.
