Aline Hicks Gibby, 93, of Andrews died Thursday, November 8, 2012 at an Andrews care facility. She was a native and lifetime resident of Cherokee County. She was retired from Owenby Manufacturing and she was a member of Junaluska Baptist Church. Aline was a kind-hearted and generous lady. Everyone who knew her loved her and called her “Granny”.

She was the daughter of the late Dewey and Lavada Beavers Hicks and was the wife of the late Harrison B. Gibby, who died May 8, 1969. She was also preceded in death by three daughters, Sue Yonce, Cora Hoyle, and Deloise Thompson; three sons, Tommy, Leroy “Peter”, and A.V. “Butch” Gibby; and a brother, Walter Hicks.

Surviving are a daughter, Louise Birchfield and husband, Jerry of Andrews; two sons, T.A. “Ted” Gibby and wife, Billie Rae of Robbinsville and J.D. Gibby and wife, Patsy of Andrews; a sister, Marvie Truett of Ellijay, GA; and 20 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 10 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews with the Revs. David Anderson and Lewis Welch officiating. Interment was in Valleytown Cemetery. Grandchildren served as pallbearers.

The family received friends from 12-1:45 Saturday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews prior to the services.
