Hazel Ledford Collett, 95, of Andrews went to be with her Lord on Sunday, January 26, 2014 in an Andrews care facility. Hazel was born on June 12, 1918. She was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County. She was a homemaker. Hazel was a member of the Junaluska Baptist Church.
She was the daughter of the late Manvers Melvin and Sarah Donie Hopper Ledford and the wife of the late Herbert M. Collett, who died November 4, 2009. She was also preceded in death by a son, David Lyle Collett; her daughter-in-law, Dema Collett; her son-in-law, William Deal; and her granddaughter, Barbara Holloway.
Surviving are her daughter, Joy Collett Deal of Minnesott Beach, NC; a sister, Eleanor Dailey of Andrews; six granddaughters, Vickie Deal, Donna Levi and husband, Daniel, Lori Metzner and husband, Shane, Debbie Thilenius and husband, Ed, Tammy Bagley and husband, Dan, and Erma Collett; a grandson, Chris Collett; a special niece, Sally Bailey, who was like a daughter; two special nephews, Larry and Jim Dailey, who visited her everytime they went to the nursing home to visit their mother; and several great and great great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 31, 2014 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews with Rev. Comer Ledford officiating and special music by Brenda Wallace and Rita Nash, two wonderful friends of Mrs. Collett’s daughter. Interment was in Valleytown Cemetery. Pallbearers were Tony and Joe Collett, Jim Dailey, James Gibby, Todd Hicks, Brian Holloway, and Ed Thilenius.
The family received friends from 12-1:45 Friday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews prior to the services.
