Maude F. McClure, 100, of Murphy passed away Sunday, September 1, 2013 at Murphy Medical Center Nursing Home. She was a native of Blairsville, GA, but had moved to Murphy in 1920 with her family. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to cook and liked to work in her flower garden. Maude was a member of Mount Liberty Baptist Church.

 

She was the daughter of the late Lemuel and Eva Leona Brown Rogers and the wife of the late Charlie W. McClure, who died January 11, 2003. She was also preceded in death by a son, Charles McClure; an infant son, David McClure; a granddaughter, Debbie L. McClure; and seven brothers, Wayne, Roy, Willard, Claude, Aud, Paul, and Andy Rogers.

 

Surviving are two daughters, Aline Ware, and Cleo M. Smith and husband, Carl all of Murphy; two sons, Max McClure and wife, Penny of Murphy, and Bill McClure and wife, Pat of Green Valley, AZ; a daughter-in-law, Wilma McClure of Murphy:  a brother, Luther Rogers of Blairsville, GA; 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and two great great granddaughters; several nieces and nephews; and a special caregiver, Katherine Stewart.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 4, 2013 in Mount Liberty Baptist Church with Revs. Zack Orton, Johnny Burrell, and Eddis Dockery officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Grandsons served as pallbearers.

 

The family received friends from 6-9 Tuesday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy where the body was until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the services.

 

The family requests memorials be made in memory of Maude F. McClure to the Mount Liberty Cemetery Fund, c/o Mabel Cook, 1700 Old Murphy Road, Murphy, NC 28906.

 

Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy in charge of all arrangements.

Dear Cleo, I am so sorry for your loss and I know your grief is so great at this time. We both know she is in a much better place now and in the arms of God. Just know that I am thinking of you and will hold you and your family in my heart and prayers.
