Hassie Harris, 91, of Hayesville died Sunday, August 4, 2013 in Fidelia Eckerd Living Center in Highlands, NC. She was a native of Clay County, but had lived in many parts of the United States before moving back to Clay County in 1987. Hassie was a bookkeeper for Clement Brothers Construction Company and she was also a homemaker.
She was the daughter of the late Mark and Levie Hogsed Rogers and the wife of the late Hubert Carl Harris, who died March 31, 2013.
Surviving are two daughters, Judy H. Phillips and husband, Larry of Cashiers, NC and Janie H. Greene and husband, Larry of Oxford, GA; five grandchildren, Ken and Tom Greene, and Mica, Katelyn, and Ashley Phillips; and two great grandchildren, Walker and Coy Greene.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 8, 2013 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with the Rev. Jackie Sellers officiating. Interment was in Eagle Fork Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bobby Rogers, Fletcher Bradley, Daniel Davenport, Alvin Maney, and Chester Hogsed.
The family received friends from 6-8 Wednesday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville.
