Marcella McMahan, 78, of Murphy died Wednesday, June 26, 2013 in an Atlanta, GA hospital. She was a native of Clay County, but had lived in Cherokee County most of her life. Marcella had worked at District Memorial Hospital and later retired from Coats American. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
She was the daughter of the late Carl and Ora Lee Hooper Stevens and the wife of the late J.L. McMahan, who died October 2, 2009. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Eva Norris; and a great granddaughter, Samantha McMahan.
Surviving are a son, Keith McMahan and wife, Joan of Hayesville; a sister, Oma Stevens of Andrews; a brother, Elbert Stevens of Andrews; two grandchildren, Justin McMahan of Randolph, NE and Beth Budde of US Air Force in Anchorage, AK; and a great grandson, Cade Budde.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM Sunday, June 30 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with the Rev. Harold Stiles officiating. Interment was in Valleytown Cemetery. Pallbearers were Aaron and Adam Powell, Keith Rollins, Trey Gaddis, Gavin Huskins, and Brian Carter.
The family received friends from 1-2:45 Sunday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy prior to the services.
