Patricia Adams Ray, 75, of Andrews died Wednesday, June 19, 2013 in Valley View Nursing Home in Andrews. She was a native of East Chicago, IN, but had moved to this area from St. Petersburg, FL in February of 1977. She had worked as a bookkeeper in the automotive and textile industries. Patricia was a member of the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
She was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Pauline June Menning Mattull and the wife of the late Stephen Decater Adams, who died May 4, 1994.
Surviving are her husband, Kevin Ray; two step-daughters, Gayle Briske of Clearwater, FL and Christel Ray of Hayesville; a step-son, Stephen D. Adams Jr. of St. Petersburg; two sisters, Peggy M. Godby (Baby Sister) of Casselberry, FL and Judith M. Fannin of Brooksville, FL; a brother, David G. Mattull of High Ridge, MO; four step grandchildren and a step great grandchild; her mother-in-law, Margaret Carroll; six sisters-in-law, Rita Newton, Sherry Perez, Penny Morrow, Eva Garland, Sharon Dockery, and Kim Svoboda; and three brothers-in-law, Mark Ray, Howard Rogers, and David Rogers.
The family received friends from 6-8 Friday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews where the body was until placed in the church at the service hour.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM Saturday, June 22 in the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Father Brandon Jones officiating. Interment was in Valleytown Cemetery. Pallbearers were Justin White, Howard and David Rogers, Richard and Ryan Perez, and William Dockery. Honorary pallbearers were David Ricks and Anita Watson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Patricia Adams Ray to the Valleytown Cemetery Fund, PO Box 1210, Andrews, NC 28901.
